The hotel is located right in the heart of Rome, with Piazza Navona nearby as wellas many other important sites.
The National Portoguese Church nerby, from which the hotel and the street get their name, is dedicated to St. Anthony and was begun in the 15th century and completed in 1695.
The Church contains numerous works by famous artists among whichCanova and because of its historical and monumental importance is visited by tourists from all over the world.
Opposite the hotel stands the "Torre dei Frangipane", also called Tower of the Monkey, on the top of which the owners of the building placed a lamp before a statue of the Holy Virgin as a vote of thanks for the saving of their baby taken up there by a monkey (17th century).
